Photos getting attention

Within the last week my photos have gotten some good media attention or at least I’ve been getting good publicity.

The great egret photo I shot while in southern New Jersey has been blogged twice to my knowledge. And, a photo I shot in London was used on MassLive.com.

Great Egret at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in NJ.

The egret photo on K-Con Inc. Building Systems is a bit puzzling to me but some one has made some nice comments.

A DC Bird Blog has also included the egret photo in a blog post.

Outside the National Maritime Museum in Greenwhich.

A photo I took in Greenwhich London was used on Masslive.com in a report about study abroad programs.

Photos of the Days – It’s been a while

It’s been amonth since I have posted any photos of the days or made an significant postings about anything. I’ve been extrememly busy, and I do mean it. I’ve been working full-time and traveling for work. And, as you should know by now, I only have dial-up Internet service where I reside. However, school is back in session, which does mean I will be more busy while also working two jobs, but it also does mean I will be around more fully functioning Internet than I was all summer. So, without further yak, here are the photos you have been waiting for.

Photos of the Days – A Tremendous Lot

The last few weeks have been filled with business, as one can assume. I’ve been working and interning and enjoying the weekends fully.

My place of work sent me to do some shooting on Martha’s Vineyard. I had a great time and got a good sense of the island – that is a less stereotyped version of what I was expecting. It’s not all rich people is what I mean. Also, it’s probably one of the most beautiful beach/town areas I’ve ever been to. There are lots of farms and cute beaches, beautiful stone walls, fields, light woods, and small businesses. And the ferry ride was relaxing.

At my internship, I moved up from transcribing audio files, to checking audio files, to also writing grants in my spare time, and (get ready, hear it comes) all the way up to script syncing footage to the transcripts. Basically what that means, is I get to sit at the Avid and sync the recorded footage for the documentary up with transcriptions of the corresponding footage. It’s a bit of a tedious task, but I’ve already learned something new, which I don’t have the opportunity to do, and it’s a good skill.

Stay tuned, Maine puffin action is coming soon…

The Rain Drop Advantage

Usually when it rains, me and every other photographer it seems takes photos of the rain drops as the subject matter. Not wanting to make this cliché photo mistake, something sparked inside of me to use the rain drops as a texturing tool rather than the subject matter.

No background bokeh for these rain drops.

I was sitting at my family’s computer, which involves a lot of waiting due to our dial-up connection. the sun was setting and I turned to the window in which it leaked in and hit me in the face.

In one window pane, remarkably, the pane that the sun rays were shining through was covered in glistening rain drops. Then, the spark came! Photo of the day!

But, of course, I had to get this classic shot.

Ran to get my camera, threw the rain drops out of focus, the fence in focus, and snapped away.

This further inspired me to go outside and take more photographs while my email waited to load, thus, today, I bring you a new, beautiful, and hopefully not cliché photo slideshow.
