University Apartments Demolished Slideshow

As a follow up to Tuesday’s post about the University Apartments being demolished, here is a slide show set to awful metal music for enjoyment.

You can watch it on Vimeo, as seen here:

Or you can watch it on Flickr, as seen here:

(I’m trying to decide which hosting site is better for video.)

For more information, check out S.P. Sullivan‘s write up on MassLive.com.

The UMass Amherst Facilities & Campus Planning Facilities Planning Home Web site  also has information about the deconstruction.

And here is some information regarding the parking lot that will be implemented.

Here’s the raw footage I shot:

Photo of the Day – Demolition Day

January 5, 2010

The old University Apartments at the University of Massachusetts Amherst are laying down to rest.

I caught some of the demolition on Butterfield Terrace today.

The Butterfield Terrace side of the apartments being torn down.

The apartments remained in use for many years despite the building being condemned and a safety hazard, according to a Massachusetts Daily Collegian article.

Parking lot 52 will be expanded into this area.

Here’s a high quality video posted on my Flickr.

Here’s a low quality video I shot on Vimeo.

Stay tuned, I have more photos tomorrow!
