Westminster Abbey is well worth the price one has to pay. An entrance fee gives one a well designed map and audio guide, as well as entrance to the abbey museum and cloisters.
Westminster is hands down the most impressive cathedral and abbey I have seen. There is no reason why any other piece of architecture can beat out the abbey. It’s detailed and ornate design is complex yet calming. It has buried the remains of the royal monarchy – and many famous writers and poets. Brilliant writers such as Tennyson were laid to rest in the abbey, while tributes to other great writers – William Shakespeare (buried in Stratford-upon-Avon) are also accounted for. This was enough to satisfy me, but the architecture is so brilliant, it’s hard not to be in awe.
