Photo of the Day

January 4, 2010

This photograph was shot on a Canon T1i. The aperture was set to 8 and the shutter was open for about 25 seconds.

Can you see Orion? He's smack dab in the middle of the telephone wires.

And there's Seanie out there in the snow.

It would be helpful if anyone had any tips on reducing grain and making the stars appear more clear. It’s difficult when you look through the lens and all you see is black.

New Year’s Day

No this isn’t a commercial for Canon.

After several video pieces published on the Web site of S.P. Sullivan, it is time he met his match.

This video of mister Sullivan was shot on a Canon T1i. (Though I wish it was a Mark.)

The original music was recorded in GarageBand through a Tascam mixer with a Takamine acoustic guitar. It was edited with Final Cut Pro in the H.264 codec (unfortunately the playback isn’t very smooth). And I do need a tripod.

The Nature of Winter

Winter is my favorite season. There are some beautiful and not so beautiful things about winter.

There are the feet prints of birds, big and small.

Bird prints.

There are also realties of freezing temperatures. Yet this is nature.

The Questionable Photo of the Day Project

On January 2, 2010 I thought it might be fun to do a photograph of the day project since it was the beginning of a new year and because I had already had a photo for January 1 and 2.

However, on January 3, I realized how difficult it would be to upload my photograph of the day. I am not often near good Internet access. My photo of the the day can’t possibly be uploaded the day it was shot!

The only solution is to continue taking a photograph of the day and simply post the photos when I get a chance to upload them.

This isn’t ideal, and perhaps it is pointless. For the moment I will try this little project. If I fail, it will fall into the 1% of things that I don’t do that I say I’m going to do. If I don’t fail – if this is a success – this project will fall into the 99% of things that I do that I say I am going to do.

Without further a do, here are the photographs of the day for January 1 through January 3.
